The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Party, Peter Obi, has said he is willing to die for Nigeria, stressing that leadership requires total commitment, especially in the face of the country’s worsening security challenges.
Obi made the statement during a recent episode of the Black Box interview on Nevon HQ with journalist Rufai Oseni, where he was asked what he would do as Commander-in-Chief to address insecurity and rescue kidnapped victims.
Although he did not outline specific operational strategies, the former Anambra State governor emphasised that solving Nigeria’s security crisis requires strong commitment and decisive leadership from those in authority.
He recalled his experience dealing with criminality during his tenure as governor of Anambra State, claiming that sustained government action helped push kidnappers out of the state.
Obi referenced a known kidnapper, Vance, whom he said admitted that criminal operations became difficult under his administration, reinforcing his argument that firm leadership can reduce insecurity.
He maintained that governance is a matter of control and responsibility, stating that effective leadership requires readiness to make personal sacrifices for national stability.
When asked directly if he was prepared to die for Nigeria, Obi responded in the affirmative, saying his identity and commitment as a Nigerian would always compel him to return and serve the country even in times of crisis.
