N&O

by Nkechi Johnson

In countless occasions I’ve heard some women say, “I think I prefer most of my male friends to my female ones”, “I don’t enjoy the fact that we women are quick to pass unfair judgement on others’ achievements”, “why are we women usually reluctant to give support to each other?”. I can’t say of you, but my eardrums have been treated to these discordant tunes by women of different pedigrees and social standing in their appraisal of the disposition of fellow women towards one another. I must also add that my view on this topic is not left within the confines of my African descent.

My Lagos Today
SideKick by Lakeside
Some never-say-die young entrepreneurs are making my research work easy on the streets of Lagos. In a country where the true essence of entrepreneurship is gradually being eroded and its real definition is being twisted by the crop of some brain-stressed nouveau riche, it’s very reassuring to see some young Nigerians, with less opportunity, still very determined to bring lofty ideas from obscurity to reckoning.
