The Plateau State Government has filed charges against five suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the March 2026 killings in Angwa-Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
Those charged include Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (also known as Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (alias Yaroro), and Adamu Isa Alhassan. Authorities said the suspects were arrested between April 3 and April 10.
The state government accused the first four defendants of criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism and related offences under the Plateau State Penal Code.
Alhassan faces additional charges, including culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and unlawful dealing in arms and ammunition.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects allegedly planned, organised, and financed attacks in Angwa-Rukuba that led to the deaths of more than 30 people.
Prosecutors also alleged that the accused collaborated with others still at large to carry out coordinated attacks across multiple communities in Plateau State between 2025 and early 2026.
The Attorney General of the state, Philemon Audu Daffi, said the offences are punishable under relevant provisions of the state’s penal laws, noting that the government is pursuing justice for victims of the attacks.
The killings, which affected communities in Bokkos, Bassa, and surrounding areas, triggered widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger security measures, with authorities pledging continued efforts to restore peace in the state.
