LASG vows to support tech development

The Lagos State Government has declared its readiness to aid the growth of the technology sector through support for tech companies and start-ups.

The state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Hakeem Fahm, gave this assurance on Sunday.

According to a statement, Fahm made the promises when he received seven awards on behalf of the state government at the sixth edition of the annual Tech Innovation Awards.

The commissioner was quoted to have said Lagos’ emergence as the best overall state in digital infrastructure for development in Nigeria, reflected Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s plans for Information, Communication, and Technology development in the state.

He said, “The awards confirmed the state’s commitment to leveraging ICT for service delivery to the citizens and developing the ICT ecosystem with world-class infrastructure.

“We reiterate the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to provide a state-wide fiber-optics infrastructure to support the huge demand for data centers, businesses, and public use. Lagos is determined to champion the sector’s growth and sustainability by supporting tech companies, ICT start-ups, and other industry members.”

The commissioner also noted that the state will leverage technology to transform the state economy.
