‘Why we are driving infrastructure in education’ – LASG

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State yesterday unveiled and inaugurated competitive infrastructure projects at an event organized by the Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS) in Ikeja.

The inauguration of the projects, which include 1,386 hostels and 150 classroom blocks in the six education districts, was done virtually not to disrupt activities at the schools.

SCRPS has now completed 1,047 classroom buildings in public schools across the six districts.

Sanwo-Olu said the state had committed more investment to education and technology in line with THEMES agenda.

He said: “When we came on board, one of the things we decided to do was to inaugurate a Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools in Lagos State (SCRPS) in November 2019 to accelerate and actualize the core vision of revamping schools’ infrastructure.

“With the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), and the Ministry of Education, we delivered about 2,280 classrooms, with associated sanitary facilities, potable water systems, and security infrastructure.”
