The Nigerian Police Force said they repelled an attack by the Boko Haram sect on the Police Mobile Training College, Limankara, Gwoza, Borno State late Thursday.
They denied reports that some of its personnel were abducted during the attack.
Police Commissioner Abdul Umar rejected reports of the abduction as fake news.
“The police did not record a single casualty or loss of firearms,” Umar told reporters in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The police commissioner said the insurgents launched their attack at 2022 hrs on Thursday but were “successfully repelled by our gallant officers and men.”
He asked the public to “disregard any misleading information that may likely cause panic and disturb the peace of innocent citizens who are roaming endlessly in search of greener pastures, and to assure them of our commitment, focus, and determination towards bringing an end to the insurgency and other crimes and criminality in Borno State.”
In an earlier interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the matter, the Police Commissioner said all the 13 policemen at the school were safe and in good condition.
