Law officers get warning against harassment, extortion

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has warned law enforcement officers against harassment, arbitrariness, and extortion of the public.

He spoke at the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, Lagos where the Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) 2022 passing-out of 8,316 law enforcement officers held.

The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Hamzat, said: “This administration will uphold the rule of law. It will not condone harassment, arbitrariness, and extortion by its law enforcement officers.

“We will strengthen the capacity of our law enforcement officers with appropriate gadgets and equipment to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness while promoting accountability and transparency.”

He urged Lagosians to be law-abiding, and support and protect men and the officers.

Sanwo-Olu said the 8,316 officers included those of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), and Neighbourhood Safety Corps.
