Lagos and Ogun state governors have praised the early success of Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative launched to combat kidnappers and other violent criminals along their shared border.

The operation, meaning “no space for criminals,” targets kidnapping gangs, armed robbers and other criminal networks operating in border communities between both states.

Police operatives have intensified raids on forest areas around the Ogbere axis, rescuing five kidnap victims, killing four suspected kidnappers and arresting 88 other suspects.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the operation as a major breakthrough and commended the police and Ogun State authorities for their collaboration in tackling insecurity.

Governor Dapo Abiodun said the intelligence-driven operation has made Lagos and Ogun increasingly hostile to kidnappers and other violent criminals.

Both governors praised the leadership of the state police commands and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting security agencies in protecting lives and property.

Abiodun also urged other states to adopt similar inter-state security collaborations to improve the fight against organised crime across the country.
