English pupil tests positive for Covid-19 as UK total hits 39

The United Kingdom’s recorded case of Coronavirus hits 39 after a school pupil in Devon tested positive to coronavirus.

The pupil attends Churston Ferrers Grammar School in the village of Galmpton, Torbay.

Reacting to the development, the school sent an email to parents assuring them that the student was getting all necessary support and advice from health services.

The mail read, “Whilst I fully understand this will cause anxiety amongst the school community, I can assure you all necessary steps are being taken to minimise risk to others,’ the headteacher said in an email reported by Sky News.

“The school are making arrangements for a deep clean with advice from Public Health England and will need to close to carry this out.

‘All people who have had contact with the person are being identified and will be contacted to advise whether they need to exclude themselves from school and any other action which may be required.’

A message on the school’s website reads: ‘Churston Ferrers Grammar School will be closed today Monday 2nd March and Tuesday 3rd March 2020.

‘Further details will follow. Staff and Parents please check your emails for regular updates.’
