The Minister of Defence, Gen. Salihi Magashi, has commissioned the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device and Explosives Ordnance Disposal Centre in Makurdi.
Gen. Magashi, represented by Major-General K. O. Kadiri, stated that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre will further boost the counter-terrorism fight in the Northeast.
He commended the German Training Advisory Group for providing technical support and logistics for the Nigerian Army in explosive devices, saying the centre is coming at the right when the fight against insurgency is intensified.
Representative of German Training Advisory Group Col. Gliemaan, who guided the Minister and his entourage on a tour, said military personnel have been trained in the act of detecting explosive.
Commandant, Nigeria Army School of Military Engineering NASME, Brigadier-General Mark Mamman, Head of Unit and other top military officers witnessed the inauguration of the centre.
