A Man Arrested For Exchange PVC For Relief Materials in Osun State

Osun state government on Monday said an unidentified middle-aged man had been arrested for posing as an official providing social relief during the stay at home period with the aim of duping unsuspected citizens.

The government in a statement, on Sunday, warned the citizens against activities of some criminally-minded people, who were demanding personal and security details in exchange for money and relief materials.

Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Security, Abiodun Ige, in a statement however, declared that a suspect had been arrested after collecting permanent Voter Cards of some people in the Olorunda Local Government Area, with the assurance that they would receive the sum of N10,000 each through an unnamed Non-Governmental Organisation during the stay-at-home period.

Ige said those who had released their cards to the suspect had been told that government was not collecting citizens security details for the purpose of distribution of relief materials for them.

She maintained that the police had commenced investigation into the matter with a view to tracking down other accomplices working with the suspect.

To prevent more people from falling victim, Osun State Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation has said it would increase its awareness drive that government was not asking for personal security details in exchange for money during the stay-at-home period.
