Police rescue 12 kidnap victims, arrest 15 nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 12 kidnapped victims, arrested 15 suspects and recovered arms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and military uniforms during coordinated operations across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the police, intelligence-led operations over the past 24 hours targeted kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal arms possession and other violent crimes, leading to major arrests and recoveries.

In Niger State, tactical operatives and local vigilantes rescued 11 kidnapped victims after a gun battle with bandits, while Oyo police rescued a five-year-old boy and arrested two suspected kidnappers linked to a N1 million ransom payment.

Police also made arrests in Kano, Ogun, Edo, Gombe and the FCT, recovering weapons, military gear, stolen property and arresting suspects linked to vandalism, impersonation, child abuse and cattle theft.

Despite the successes, fresh attacks in Plateau, Benue and Zamfara states claimed at least 19 lives, with security forces launching manhunts for the attackers and reinforcing affected communities.

In Bauchi State, police intensified efforts to rescue another kidnap victim, while investigations have begun in all reported cases across the country.

The police said the operations reflect their renewed focus on intelligence-driven policing, rapid response and collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes to dismantle criminal networks nationwide.
