First Lady Launches Food Bank, Digital Academy and Clinic in Jigawa

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the National Community Food Bank, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Future Academy and the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic in Jigawa State as part of efforts to tackle child malnutrition, improve healthcare and promote digital innovation.

Mrs. Tinubu said the Food Bank programme was established under the Renewed Hope Initiative to provide nutritious food for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under six through Primary Healthcare Centres.

She explained that the initiative, which was first launched in Borno State, would be expanded across all six geopolitical zones to reduce child malnutrition nationwide.

The First Lady disclosed that the Dangote Group had committed food items worth N20 billion to the programme, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is funding the construction of Food Bank facilities with N30 billion.

She added that she had personally donated N500 million to the initiative and said all food items would be locally produced and packaged to support Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

Mrs. Tinubu also commissioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Future Academy, a digital innovation centre equipped with artificial intelligence laboratories, startup incubation facilities, robotics workshops, training centres and research hubs.

NITDA Director-General Kashifu Abdullahi said the academy would prepare young Nigerians for the digital economy while supporting research in artificial intelligence, robotics and health technology.

The First Lady also inaugurated the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic, a modern healthcare facility with a dialysis centre, operating theatre, maternity ward, laboratories and renewable energy-powered infrastructure.

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi described the projects as major investments that would strengthen healthcare, digital innovation and improve the welfare of residents across the state.
