Boko Haram terrorists have released a video warning the Nigerian government against attempting a forceful rescue of 416 abducted victims in Borno State.
In the footage, the group issued a 72-hour ultimatum, stating that if their demands are not met within the timeframe, the captives would be moved to undisclosed locations, making it difficult to trace them.
The insurgents, dressed in military camouflage, declared they were prepared for confrontation and “welcomed” any rescue attempt by force.
The message, delivered in Hausa and translated into English, was addressed to both the government and the Borno South Youths Alliance, which has been involved in mediation efforts.
Although the group did not state its demands in the latest video, earlier reports indicated that a ransom of ₦5 billion had been requested for the release of the victims.
The President of the Borno South Youths Alliance, Samaila Kaigama, confirmed receiving the ultimatum, describing it as a “final warning” in ongoing negotiations.
He appealed to the Federal Government and other stakeholders, including prominent Nigerians, to urgently intervene and secure the release of the abducted women and children.
The victims were reportedly taken during an earlier attack on Ngoshe, where insurgents overran a military base, destroyed equipment, and abducted residents.
