The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has enrolled over 127 million Nigerians into its National Identity Numbers (NIN) database as of December 2025.
Speaking to journalists, NIMC spokesman Dr. Kayode Adegoke said the commission will soon upload detailed enrolment figures for all states on its website. He also encouraged Nigerians to use the commission’s digital platforms to register for their NIN or update their personal data.
According to NIMC records, as of October 31, 2025, 123.9 million Nigerians had been registered, with Lagos State topping the list at 13.1 million. The enrollment was fairly evenly distributed between the North and South of the country.
The top 10 states for enrollment are Lagos with 13.1 million, Kano 11.5 million, Kaduna 7.3 million, Ogun 5.1 million, Oyo 4.7 million, Katsina 4.2 million, FCT Abuja 4.06 million, Rivers 3.6 million, Delta 3.2 million, and Bauchi 3.2 million. States with the lowest enrolment include Kwara and Imo with 2.09 million each, Yobe 2.08 million, Enugu 2 million, and Kogi 1.9 million.
Gender breakdown across the country shows 54.2 million females and 69.7 million males have been captured in the NIN database.
The commission continues to stress the importance of NIN registration for access to government services, banking, and other digital platforms.
