‘Your head is concrete’s Cardiff star Joe Bennett tells teammate, Junior Hoilett after collision leaves him with eye injury

When Cardiff City full back, Joe Bennett collided with teammate, Junior Hoilett, he had no idea he would be hitting a ‘concrete head’ as he was left injured after the incident.

Bennett was carried off and substituted after both players were floored when they clashed heads in Sunday’s 2-1 Championship win at promotions rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

At the end of the match, Bennett took to his social media page to update fans, posting a photo of his hugely-swollen eye.

@jrhoilett23 your head is made of concrete 😂😅 all good though no fracture. Great result from the boys 👊🏻🙌🏼⚽️ @cardiffcityfc pic.twitter.com/Kw8U3Y9Dgi

Robert Glatzel and Hoilett had put Cardiff 2-0 up inside the first eight minutes before Sam Lees nodded the Owls back into it.

But late in the first half Bennett and Hoilett collided worryingly as they leapt to head the ball.

Medics from both teams dashed to treat the stricken duo as they lay holding their heads.

Hoilett was eventually able to get up and stay on for the rest of the game, but Bennett was taken off on a stretcher.
