Ugo Ugochukwu Wins 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship

Nigerian-American racing driver Ugo Ugochukwu has won the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship after finishing second in the final race of the season in Madrid, Spain.

The 19-year-old Campos Racing driver secured the championship at the Madring circuit on Sunday, September 13, becoming the first Nigerian-American driver to win the FIA Formula 3 title.

Ugochukwu entered the season finale level on points with British driver Freddie Slater after a closely contested championship battle throughout the campaign.

The final race provided a decisive conclusion to the title fight, with Finnish driver Tuukka Taponen winning the Madrid Feature Race.
Ugochukwu’s second-place finish earned him enough points to move clear of Slater in the championship standings and secure the title by a 14-point margin.

The championship victory marks a significant achievement in Ugochukwu’s racing career and further raises his profile in the international motorsport scene.

The result also strengthens the 19-year-old’s prospects as he continues his progression through the single-seater racing ranks with the ambition of eventually reaching Formula 1.
