Following an attack on the Jos Medium Custodial Centre in Plateau State by gunmen yesterday, security agents have taken over the streets around the facility.
The roads were blocked by security forces from the Polo ground junction to the police headquarters as the gunmen were trapped in the facility.
Spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Mr. Francis Enobore, confirmed the attack.
He said in a statement: “The Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jos, Plateau State came under attack by gunmen who reportedly stormed the facility in large numbers with sophisticated weapons.
Some inmates were said to have been set free but were still within the facility when security operatives engaged the attackers in a shootout.
