Tinubu Stresses Ethical Media’s Role In Deepening Democracy

President Bola Tinubu has stressed the importance of a professional, ethical and responsible media to the strengthening of Nigeria’s democracy.

Tinubu made the remarks in a congratulatory message to the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Press Council, Dr Dili Ezughah, who marked his 65th birthday. The message was issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President commended Ezughah for his decades of contributions to journalism, public communication and national development, as well as his efforts to promote professionalism and adherence to media standards.

Tinubu said responsible journalism remained essential as Nigeria continued efforts to strengthen its democratic institutions and deepen public participation.

He also highlighted Ezughah’s commitment to media ethics and professionalism, describing such standards as important to the development of the Nigerian press and the wider society.

The President wished Ezughah renewed strength, wisdom and good health as he continued his service to the nation and the journalism profession.

Tinubu said the media’s role in democracy could not be overemphasised, particularly as the country works to consolidate its democratic institutions and promote responsible public communication.
