PSC excludes Magu from 24 CPs elevated to AIGs

A former Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has been excluded from the list of 24 Commissioners of Police (CPs) promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs).

The Police Service Commission (PSC) had issued a statemnet on Thursday announcing the promotion of 24 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs).

However, the embattled former Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Magu also a Commissioners of Police, was excluded.

The commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, announced this yesterday in a statement in Abuja, titled: PSC Promotes 24 CPs, 35 DCPs, 52 ACPs, 50 CSPs, Drops Ibrahim Magu.

According to Ani, the decisions were the highpoints of the commission’s 12th plenary meeting held on Tuesday, July 6 and Wednesday, July 7, and presided over by PSC Chairman Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Ani said: “The commission declined the promotion of CP Magu pending clearance from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice and the Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).”
