Lagos Police Arrest 24 Cultists in Ijora, Bariga And Mushin, Recover Firearms: OLUSEGUN ARIYO
Operatives of Lagos state police command specifically “team of operation crush from anti cultism unit” have apprehended 25 cultists at various locations in ijora, Bariga and Mushin.
In the process, the Police operatives were able to nab top cult kingpins, as well as recover firearms used by those arrested.
Speaking after the arrest of 20-year-old olaitan Rilwan who was arrested with an automatic pistol concealed in his bag at ijora, Lagos state police public officer Dsp Bala Elkana said; the suspect, olaitan Rilwan had confessed to being a member of Aiye confraternity.
Elkana said a follow-up operation at Bariga, one Mustapha Oseni and 22 others were arrested.
Continuing, elkana said one locally made-pistol with eight rounds of live cartridges was recovered adding that investigation is on-going and suspects will be a charge to court at the conclusion of its investigation.
Meanwhile in Mushin, anti-crime operatives led by inspector Atipi Agase while on patrol along olorunsogo intercepted one omisogun Mathew and Yetunde Lawson on a motorcycle.
The statement put further that on sighting the police team the hoodlum attempted to escape but were given hot chase.
The spokesman said one locally made double barrel pistol with two live cartridges was recovered from the suspects.
“Suspects belong to a five-man armed robbery syndicate operating in mushin, ikotun and igando area”.
Elkana said the suspects have been transferred to the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and will be charged to court.
