NURTW workers debunk rumors surrounding MC Oluomo

Workers of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) secretariat at Abattoir, Agege, have debunked rumors that the Chairman of Lagos State Park Management Committee, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), sacked them.

They said none of the 67 workers were fired by the chairman.

Secretariat Chief Accountant Alhaji Omolaja Yisa, at a press briefing, described the rumor as “unfounded and aimed at tarnishing the image of Alhaji Akinsanya.”

He cautioned the former Secretary of the proscribed NURTW, Seyi Bankole not to heat the polity by spreading fake news.

“Since the advent of the Alhaji Akinsanya-led administration, no worker has been laid off, even those that engaged in activities contrary to the dictates of the union, were reprimanded and pardoned. I must say that it is under Akinsanya’s administration, that the welfare of staff is adequately taken care of; staff salaries and enumerations were greatly enhanced,” he said.

Confidential Secretary Mrs. Omowunmi Aliu said only two junior workers voluntarily withdrew their services and went with their boss, Bankole.

Mrs. Aliu said: “Nobody sent them away; they decided to go with Bankole, who since the crisis started, decided not to come to the office. I called them to return to their work but they said they won’t come back until Bankole returns. Nobody sacked them. Alhaji Akinsanya even approved payment of their salaries despite staying away from work and I paid it into their accounts. They are free to come back.”
