Lagos deputy gov’s brother, Usman Hamzat becomes new chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye LGA

Usman Hamzat, the brother to Deputy Governor of Lagos State Obafemi Hamzat is the new “Chairman” of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government.

He assumed the position based on a directive from the Lagos State of Assembly led by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

The Lagos Assembly yesterday, Friday November 22, 2019 suspended the substantive chairman of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government area, Oloruntoba Oke for “mismanagement, financial tacklessnes, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds”.

The accusations are largely premised on alleged fraud perpetrated by Oke seven years ago – via a N350million loan from defunct Skye Bank -, before his current tenure.

The Assembly ordered Usman Hamzat, the Vice Chaiman – and brother to deputy governor Hamzat – to take over the affairs of the council immediately as Oke proceeds on suspension.

Usman Hamzat is the last born of deputy governor Femi Hamzat’s parents.
