Kaduna-Abuja: Railway service suspension may cost NRC N12m

The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) reportedly lost a daily revenue worth twelve million naira to the temporary suspension of train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route.

This is because the corporation generates over 12 million daily from passenger tickets.

NRC yesterday confirmed that an explosion which occurred on the rail track affected a Kaduna-bound train on Wednesday night.

It, however, said efforts were being made to resume train services as soon as possible, adding that appropriate measures, checks and maintenance were being carried out.

Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi in an interview last year disclosed that NRC makes about N120 million in a month.
