INEC excludes Lawan, Akpabio, and Umahi from the list of senatorial candidates

The released Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list of senatorial candidates may be the end of Senate President Ahmed Lawan, immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio, and Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi’s senatorial aspirations.

Their names were conspicuously missing from the list displayed yesterday by INEC at its offices across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Also currently on display at INEC offices, are the names of the presidential candidates of the various parties.

These include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his running mate Ibrahim Masari; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and his running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP)and his running mate Doyin Okupe.

The list was published along with the affidavit in support of personal particulars (Form EC9) of Presidential and National Assembly candidates for claims and objections.

The names of Lawan, Akpabio, and Umahi were submitted by their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), just before the expiration of the deadline given to the parties to submit their candidates’ names.
