How Lagos childless couple buys stolen baby from Imo – Police

The Police in Lagos has arrested two men, Mbama, 41, and Ekwebele, 30, for allegedly stealing a one-month-old baby in Imo State and selling him to a childless couple in Lagos.

The police also confirmed in a statement on Monday the arrest of the couple who allegedly bought the stolen child, Izuchukwu, 51, and Cecilia, 40.

The statement read, “The suspects were intercepted by police Officers from Anthony Police Division, on enforcement duty at Anthony Oke pin down point.

“The officers stopped a Toyota Sienna SUV carrying seven passengers. The officers’ enquiries fuelled the suspicion that the baby was stolen.

“The suspects stated that they were coming from Orlu, Imo State. Further investigations revealed that the suspects had sold the baby to a childless couple in Lagos.

“The suspects are to be charged to Court.”

“The childless couple, Izuchukwu ‘m’ 51 years old and Cecilia ‘f’ 40 years old were thereafter arrested after the suspects’ confession.”

The statement added that efforts have been made to hand over the baby to his parents.
