The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said its Lagos airport Hajj terminal is ready for transport of intending pilgrims as from May 9.
The Manager, Pilgrims and Cargo Terminal, Muritala Muhammad International Airport, Mr Adedayo Alale, said this during a tour of the terminal yesterday in Lagos.
Alale said that facilities installed at the terminal included close circuit television cameras to ensure adequate security.
According to Alale, the terminal also implemented contactless processes, including automated machines and separate areas for different activities, to minimise interactions between pilgrims and staff.
“You can see the total refurbishment of the building under the leadership of Mrs Olubunmi Kuku.
“She has proven to the whole world that she is capable of leading this organisation.
“I have been in this organisation for years, and we haven’t had such facelift on airport facilities.
“You can see we have phased out the old screening machines and replaced them with modern ones, and they are all working perfectly,” he said.
He said that a linguistics team had been constituted to ensure seamless communication.
“If it is Yoruba, if it is English, Igbo or Hausa or any language, they will speak in the language the traveller understands.”
