FG to Launch Digital Platform to Track Schools Nationwide

The Federal Government has announced plans to launch a national digital platform to improve education planning, policymaking and service delivery by creating a unified database for schools, learners, teachers and education infrastructure.

The platform, known as the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS), will be unveiled on Wednesday alongside a public portal and the inauguration of state implementation teams.

The Ministry of Education said the initiative is designed to address longstanding challenges caused by fragmented, inconsistent and unreliable education data that have weakened planning and accountability across the sector.

Officials said the platform will provide timely and accurate data to support budgeting, policymaking, monitoring and service delivery while ensuring every learner, teacher, school and public investment is captured in a single national database.

The government added that DNEMIS, developed on the District Health Information Software 2 platform, will digitise the Annual School Census, replacing manual data collection with an integrated digital system.

The Public DNEMIS Portal will also make selected official education data accessible to researchers, journalists, policymakers, civil society organisations, development partners and the public to improve transparency and encourage wider participation in education reforms.

The Federal Government said the initiative, developed with technical support from UNICEF and the University of Oslo, is expected to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and address longstanding weaknesses in Nigeria’s education data management system.
