President Muhammadu Buhari is being persuaded to prosecute people who engage in oil black markets.
Chairman of Skymark Energy and Power Ltd, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan said the activities of these black marketers had been aggravating the current fuel crisis.
At a briefing in Abuja on the fuel crisis, Hassan said the operations is tantamount to sabotaging the efforts of the Petroleum Ministry and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd in proffering a solution to the quagmire.
His words, “The criminality between independent marketers and black marketers which is aggravating the fuel crisis has become a serious menace.
“It has become imperative for anti-corruption agencies to crack down on them because the situation is getting out of the hands of the NNPC which does not have police or military to crack down on them because that is not part of their responsibility.”
Hassan guaranteed that the petroleum ministry and the NNPC authorities had taken all the proactive steps in ensuring an adequate supply of fuel into circulation and that very soon, the long queues at fuel stations would be over.
He expressed optimism that the crisis would soon end because the ministry and NNPC were still doing their best to proffer a lasting solution.
