FG plans to invest N75 billion on youth development in three years, says Akume

The Federal Government has stated plans to invest N75 billion on youth development in form of support for communities, skill acquisition and realisation of their potentials within the next three years.

This was made known by the Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Senator George Akume, who spoke during a youth rally in Makurdi.

He disclosed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently committed N12.5billion to the programme for the year 2020.

The former Benue State governor and senator said the Federal Government has approved the dualisation of Keffi-Lafia-Makurdi-Otukpo-9th Mile road; the rehabilitation of Makurdi-Gboko-Katsina Ala road, as well as the construction of Makurdi-Naka-Adoka-Ankpa road along with the rehabilitation of Makurdi and Katsina-Ala bridges.

He urged the youths to keep faith with the Buhari government, stressing that the administration, within its first three years, released several billions of naira loan to states as bailout funds, budget support funds, infrastructure support funds, salary support funds and so on for the tackling of salary, pension and other matters, including infrastructure.
