Fashola: Second Niger Bridge 80 percent completed, due for commission February

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), yesterday announced that the Second Niger Bridge is 80 percent near completion.

He made the announcement after inspecting the project from the Obosi end to its Ogbaru terminus.

He said there was a lot of progress, adding that the last time he visited the site, the majority of work was at the Onitsha bound lane.

He said by February 2022, the bridge would be commissioned.

He said: ”I’m impressed by the work done. By February the bridge will be linked from Asaba to the Onitsha end, and sometime next year the entire project would be commissioned.”

Federal Controller Works in the state, Adeyemo Ajani, said the bridge had reached 80 per cent completion.

He noted that the 11.9 Km Owerri inter-change road linking the bridge from Onitsha end to Asaba in Delta State was almost ready.
