Evacuation of Nigerians delayed by check-in process

An Air Peace flight slated to evacuate Nigerians fleeing Ukraine from Poland was postponed yesterday due to hitches.

An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bolaji Akinremi, said the flight was postponed due to a delay in preparing passengers’ documents for the check-in process.

According to Air Peace spokesman, Stanley Olisa, the aircraft was deployed to evacuate Nigerians.

The aircraft, he said, departed Nigeria yesterday at 2:20 am for Warsaw, Poland.

The flight, which was re-scheduled for this morning, will be the first batch of Nigerians to be withdrawn since the war broke out.

Recall that the Federal Government engaged Air Peace and Max Air to evacuate over 2,000 of its citizens from Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia.
