Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has pledged continued government support for the creative industry through skills development, expanded training opportunities and improved infrastructure. He spoke at the commissioning and opening of Euphoria360 Hub, established by actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo in Oregun, Lagos.
Hamzat described the facility as a space where young creatives could access the tools and opportunities needed to build careers in the entertainment industry. He said the government would continue supporting initiatives that create jobs and strengthen Lagos as a centre for talent and innovation.
The deputy governor said Lagos had abundant creative talent but needed the right structures and opportunities to harness its potential. He disclosed that the state was investing in creative infrastructure, including theatres in Ikorodu, Badagry and other divisions, while exploring ways to expand training in filmmaking, acting, photography and other disciplines.
Hamzat added that the government planned to train up to one million Lagos residents across various fields. He stressed the need to connect skills development with employment opportunities to build a sustainable pool of professionals capable of competing internationally.
He said the government wanted creatives to showcase Nigerian culture globally while earning appropriate economic returns from their work.
He urged industry stakeholders to identify barriers to growth and collaborate with the government on practical solutions, particularly in intellectual property protection, contracts and professional training.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Dr Sunday Dare, described the entertainment industry as a powerful contributor to Nigeria’s global visibility and influence. He called for stronger government support, noting that the sector generates substantial revenue and has the potential to create employment for many young people.
Adebayo said Euphoria360 Hub was established as a one-stop destination where producers, filmmakers, content creators, film enthusiasts and event planners could access modern facilities and professional services. He said the project brings together key players across the entertainment value chain to support collaboration and the production of high-quality creative work.
