The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Jigawa Command, has dismantled three suspected drug black spots in Kazaure Local Government Area during raids conducted between August 12 and 15 under Operation Restore Order.
The raids targeted Kadawa village, Bagara cannabis smoking joint and Filin Idi black spot, following a directive by NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa for state commands to dismantle suspected drug black spots across the country.
During the operation at Kadawa village, NDLEA operatives arrested one suspect and recovered dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, Exhol-5 tablets, capsules and tramadol tablets. A follow-up operation at Bagara on August 14 led to the arrest of four suspects aged between 27 and 46.
Two additional suspects, aged 32 and 50, were also arrested during a raid on the Filin Idi black spot. The NDLEA said the three operations resulted in the seizure of 1.278kg of illicit drugs.
Jigawa NDLEA Commander Hassan Kabaju commended the operatives for their professionalism and courage, saying the dismantling of the drug joints demonstrated that the state would not provide a safe haven for drug traffickers and abusers.
Kabaju said Operation Restore Order was aimed at reclaiming communities, protecting young people and eliminating drug black spots across the state. He added that investigations into the arrested suspects were ongoing and that they would be charged to court after the investigations are completed.
The commander urged residents to provide timely and credible information about drug trafficking and abuse, assuring them that reports made through NDLEA outposts across the state’s 27 local government areas would be treated confidentially.
