Zenith Bank Plc has been named Africa’s Best Bank and Nigeria’s Best Bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, retaining the Nigerian title for a second consecutive year.
The awards, presented in London, recognise outstanding performance in strategy, profitability, risk management, digital innovation and overall impact in the banking industry.
Group Managing Director and CEO, Adaora Umeoji, described the recognition as a reflection of customers’ trust, employees’ dedication and the bank’s commitment to delivering value, driving financial inclusion and supporting businesses across Africa. She also dedicated the awards to Zenith Bank founder, Jim Ovia.
The bank reported strong 2025 financial results, posting gross earnings of N4.19 trillion, profit after tax of N1.04 trillion and reducing its non-performing loan ratio from 4.7 per cent to 3.8 per cent. It also doubled its dividend payout to N10 per share.
Zenith Bank said it has continued to expand its digital banking capabilities, invest in artificial intelligence and strengthen its pan-African operations.
The latest recognition adds to a long list of local and international awards received by the bank in recent years, including repeated honours from The Banker, Global Finance, World Finance and BusinessDay for excellence in banking, corporate governance and sustainability.
