President Bola Tinubu has pledged to replicate the ongoing infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) across Nigeria, saying his administration remains committed to expanding critical projects that improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth.
The President made the pledge during the inauguration of the newly completed Transitway N-2, a major road corridor linking Abuja’s Central Business District with Wuse District. He was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Tinubu described the project as another milestone under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that roads, bridges, rail lines and other infrastructure remain central to the government’s plan to improve transportation, boost productivity and enhance the quality of life of Nigerians.
According to him, the new transitway will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time between key parts of the capital and create new commercial opportunities for residents and businesses. He added that the project also supports the long-term implementation of the Abuja Master Plan.
The President commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for driving what he described as the transformation of Abuja through the consistent execution of infrastructure projects.
Wike, in his remarks, said the successful delivery of projects in the FCT had been made possible by President Tinubu’s support, particularly the decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA). He disclosed that more completed projects would be inaugurated on July 17 and urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration.
The minister also announced plans to digitally map every road within the FCT, including those not currently captured on Google Maps, to improve navigation across the capital, while the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, described the new transitway as a strategic investment in urban mobility, economic growth and efficient city planning.
