National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson, says the party remains confident in the judiciary despite the Federal High Court ruling affecting its registration.
Dickson described the Lokoja judgment as having no effect on the party’s status, noting that the NDC has already appealed the decision and filed applications for a stay of execution.
He insisted the court did not order INEC to remove the party from its register, declaring that the NDC and all its candidates would appear on the 2027 election ballot.
The former Bayelsa governor said the party had completed its primary elections in line with INEC’s timetable and accused the commission of denying it access codes needed to upload candidates’ details.
INEC, however, said it was unaware of the allegation and maintained it would only act after obtaining and reviewing the Certified True Copy of the court judgment.
Dickson also endorsed the creation of state police but recommended a phased implementation, beginning with zonal commands before extending policing powers to state governments.
He urged that the rollout of state police be delayed until after the 2027 general election, while renewing his call for broader constitutional reforms and genuine federalism.
