Lagos To Host Maiden Entertainment Games And Awards In September 2026

Lagos State is set to host the first edition of the Lagos Entertainment Association Games & Awards (LEAGA) in September 2026, bringing together key players in Nigeria’s entertainment and creative industry for a mix of sports, recreation and recognition.

Endorsed by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission, the annual initiative aims to promote friendship, wellness, unity and collaboration among entertainers and creative professionals outside the demands of the industry.

The event will feature competitions in football, basketball, athletics, tennis, table tennis, relay races, dance, fitness challenges, draughts and ayo olopon, with participation expected from musicians, actors, comedians, DJs, media personalities and other stakeholders in the creative sector.

Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, commended the organisers for supporting sports development and youth engagement through recreation.

Speaking on the vision behind LEAGA, Lead Convener Muyiwa Osinaike said the initiative was designed to strengthen bonding and healthy interaction among creatives, MDAs and businesses within the arts, culture and creative economy space.

According to him, the broader goal is to promote “sportainment” in Lagos, Nigeria and across Africa.

The inaugural edition of the event will honour notable Nigerian icons including Segun Odegbami, Wole Soyinka, Bruce Onobrakpeya and Taiwo Ajai-Lycett.
The event will conclude with an awards and gala night celebrating outstanding contributions to the entertainment and creative industries.
