Army Launches Recreational Park in Delta to Boost Community Relations

The Nigerian Army has inaugurated a modern recreational park in Ogume, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, as part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations and support community development.

The project was executed under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation initiative and delivered by Major General Ugochukwu Goodluck Ogeleka.

Representing the Chief of Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General E.E. Emekah, said the initiative reflects the Army’s commitment to non-kinetic operations and grassroots engagement.

He noted that the park is designed to improve the welfare of residents while fostering trust and cooperation between the military and host communities.

Emekah urged community members to take ownership of the facility to ensure its sustainability and long-term impact.

The park features a range of amenities, including a sports court, children’s playground, event stage, solar-powered lighting, internet connectivity, and landscaped green areas.

Speaking at the event, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General M.A. Etsu-Ndagi, emphasised the importance of public cooperation in addressing security challenges.

Delta State government representatives and local leaders described the project as a significant step toward enhancing unity, social life, and development in the area.

The initiative is seen as part of a broader effort by the Nigerian Army to build stronger ties with civilians while promoting peace and stability.
