A petroleum tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) late Wednesday night overturned and burst into flames at the Ikeja Along area of Lagos State.
The Nation gathered that the petrol-laden tanker lost balance, spilled its contents on the roadway and subsequently ignited, triggering a massive fire outbreak that sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky.
Emergency responders, including officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other security agencies, were swiftly deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and manage traffic in the area.
Motorists were advised to avoid the route as authorities worked to cordon off the affected section of the road to prevent further casualties and secondary explosions.
As of press time, details regarding casualties or the cause of the accident were yet to be confirmed.
