Terrorism: Police train 324 personnel

Over 300 members of the Nigerian Police Force have been trained in counter-terrorism to tackle insecurity in the country.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman who promised to tackle the nation’s insecurity challenge, said this yesterday during the EOD-CBRN basic course 19A/2022 graduation ceremony at PMF training collage Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.

About 324 auxiliary personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were trained in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) technicians and investigators.

The IGP was represented at the graduation ceremony by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Operations Abuja, AIG Bala Ciroma.

The police boss said the training was aimed at improving and reinvigorating EOD-CBRN operations across the country by ensuring adequate skilled personnel is available to fight against internal insecurity in the country.

“By this training, participants will be more exposed to current methods and methodology in combating threats associated with CBRNE terrorism in the country.

“This will enhance operative skills to effectively perform IED disposal and UXOs clearance and demolition operations. Acquaint the trainees with safety and security guidelines in EOD-CBRN operations as well as the emerging CBRNE global threats and mitigation strategies,” he said
