We’ve registered 2.5m eligible voters in Ogun, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it registered 2,449,000 eligible voters in Ogun State.

It added that since it began its online free registration, 259,713 people have been registered in the state.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Abdulganiyu Raji, disclosed this in Abeokuta at a sensitisation meeting between Ogun REC and representatives of students’ union government in the state, on Continuous Voters Registration.

The programme was organised by the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Student Matters, Azeez Adeyemi.

The REC who delivered a lecture on INEC CVR and Students Civic Rights, said the statistics with the commission showed that 85 percent of the new registrants of the Permanent Voter Cards were youths.

Adeyemi appealed to the students to take the issue of registration seriously.

He urged the INEC to create an enabling environment for the students eligible to vote .

Adeyemi hailed the governor for supporting the programme and students matters.
