PSC suspends two police officers, asks IG to suspend two inspectors

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has suspended two of the police officers: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sunday Labuan and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Bawa.

They both worked with suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari in the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Nigeria Police Force.

The officers have been banned from exercising the powers and functions of their offices with effect from Monday, February 14, 2022.

They were allegedly involved in the current cocaine seizure and transfer to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The commission further directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to suspend two Inspectors who were also fingered in the drug saga.

The PSC’s decision was included in a letter to the IGP, dated February 16, 2022, and signed by Justice Clara B. Ogunbiyi, retired Justice of the Supreme Court and Commissioner 1 in the Commission, for the PSC Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired IGP.
