NIPOST signs MoU with Visa, eGate

The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visa and eGate.

The MoU is set to achieve financial inclusion and seamless digital transactions for Nigerians at home and abroad.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by the Head of Corporate Communications Department of NIPOST, Mr. Franklin Alao, said the tripartite partnership would facilitate digital financial services, issuing of payment cards and support financial inclusion in the country.

The agreement was signed by the Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, the Chief Executive Officer of eGate, Mr. Essam El-Sagheer, and the Vice President of Global Digital Partnership, for Visa, Alex McCrea.

Adewusi said NIPOST had a strategic plan to provide financial inclusion services as part of Nigeria’s digital transformation plan.

“Today, we take this plan forward by signing with eGate, one of the leaders on digital transformation and our consultant who leads our digital transformation plan, and Visa, the world leader in digital payments,” he said.

El-Sagheer said eGate had become one of the digital transformation leaders in Africa, stressing that the agreement would be mutually beneficial to all parties.
