NCDC: 6,307 Nigerians recovering from COVID-19

According to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), over 6,000 Nigerians are yet to recover from COVID-19 as of August 31, 2022.

The report says between August 2nd to August 31st, 2022, a total of 263,694 Nigerians have been infected with COVID-19 since the pandemic began in 2020, with 257,387 discharged. Therefore, a total of 6,307 are yet to recover from the infection.

From August 2nd to 5th, a total of 412 cases were reported; August 6th to 10th, 517 cases; August 11th to 12th, 118 cases; August 13th to 15th, 114 cases; August 16th to 17th, 84 cases; August 18th to 19th, 164 cases; August 20th to 22nd, 178 cases; August 23rd to 24th, 232 cases; August 25th to 26th, 85 cases; August 27th to 29th, 119 cases; and August 30th to 31st, 168 cases.

Therefore, in the last 30 days (between August 2nd to August 31st), 2,191 COVID-19 cases have been reported across the country, while 3,148 Nigerians have sadly lost their lives.

According to the latest COVID-19 Vaccination data from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), on September 1st, 2022, in 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 30,899,371 total eligible persons targeted for COVID-19 vaccination are fully vaccinated, while 12,619,664 are partially vaccinated.

The NCDC continues to urge Nigerians to comply with the non-pharmaceutical protocols of regular handwashing with soap under flowing water, using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, properly wearing face masks in public, and avoiding large and congested gatherings.

Also, persons experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 like fever, cough, tiredness, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache, difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, etc., should visit the nearest testing center for diagnosis and treatment.
