LASG acquires fire stations, 62 fire-fighter trucks

The Lagos State Government will inaugurate new fire stations tomorrow.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mobolaji Ogunlende, said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu acquired 62 fire-fighter trucks.

Ogunlende also said the governor created jobs by recruiting 435 firefighters who would be deployed to boost the first responders and strengthen their capacity in responding to fire incidents.

The special adviser added that the governor upgraded the fire service from a department to an agency with the first female director of Mrs. Margaret Adeseye.

“It should be on record that the rehabilitation/construction of these fire-fighting trucks affirm the genuine commitment and premium placed on life and property of Lagosians by the governor,” he said.

He urged Lagosians to give accurate information on emergencies to allow responders to act quickly.

“When calls come to the control center, we need clear, concise, and detailed information. Also, a lot of these calls are false alarms. We need everyone to know any call that comes in is important and we need to spend less time listening before discharging officials to the field,” he said.
