Ibadan monarchs blame worsening insecurity on Makinde’s mismanagement

The Ibadan Traditional Council has faulted Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde’s handling of the insecurity rocking the state.

The council advised him to change tactics before it is too late.

The council gave the advice at its meeting held at the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, at the weekend.

The council comprises members of the Olubadan-in-Council, other monarchs in Ibadan land and family heads called the Mogaji.

The council members accused the governor of running a one-man administration, which they noted was affecting the security of lives and property.

According to them, attempts to meet the governor and explain why his style was failing the state were unsuccessful.

The traditional rulers accused Makinde of having poor respect for them. They explained that they were excluded in the security architecture despite that they were closer to the people in the communities.

Responding to the position of the monarchs, the Executive Assistant on Security to Governor Makinde, retired commissioner of police Sunday Odukoya, described the claim as an opinion.

He said Ibadan is still the safest city in the Southwest.
