Court slams Lagos socialite with 27 months imprisonment

An Oshodi Special Offences Court has convicted a Lagos socialite, Ms Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl, and sentenced her to 27 months imprisonment for distributing petrol as souvenirs at her party.

The Lagos State government brought a three-count charge against her.

Trial Magistrate, Kehinde Ogundare, on Thursday convicted Ms Ogbulu of all charges.

However, a statement issued yesterday night by Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Mrs Grace Alo, gave the convict an option of fine in the sum of N1.015 million.

According to the statement, Ms Ogbulu was ordered to pay a fine of N15,000 or three months imprisonment on the first count, a fine of N500,000 or one year imprisonment on the second count.

She was also ordered to pay a fine of N500,000 or one year imprisonment on the third count.
