Aregbesola explains how FG is fighting terrorism

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has said that the Federal Government is using financial intelligence with kinetic to combat terrorism.

He said this at the third Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing: “No Money for Terror” in New Delhi, India.

The conference was organized by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The minister said President Muhammadu Buhari would wipe out terrorism, adding that security personnel has continued to take action against terror groups.

Aregbesola maintained that terrorism has wreaked havoc in the world and created hardship for people in Africa.

Furthermore, he noted that the fight must be focused on efforts to identify, trace and seize funds, assets, and property that are used to enable terror.

He said, “From shadow banks, dark web cryptocurrency transactions to illegal cross-border cash couriers and unlicensed money transfer agents; the infrastructure that supports terrorism must be dismantled to deprive them of the oxygen to organize and perpetrate terror …”
