President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria has emerged from its difficult economic phase, expressing confidence that his administration’s reforms have laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and national prosperity.
Tinubu made the remarks on Monday while reflecting on his recent Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. He said the progress recorded under his administration was encouraging and pledged to strengthen efforts to develop the country and improve opportunities for Nigerians.
“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” the President said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President also pledged to increase investment in young Nigerians, stressing that leaders must create opportunities for future generations. He said his commitment to national development had been strengthened by his spiritual experience and expressed determination to deliver prosperity with the support of Nigerians.
Tinubu said he had prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue serving the country, adding that he believed his prayers had been answered.
He cited Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, which states that ultimate power and authority belong to Almighty Allah, describing political leadership as a responsibility that must be exercised with humility and dedication.
The President also thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation access to the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah. He described the experience as historic and expressed appreciation for the hospitality and recognition extended to the Nigerian delegation.
Other members of the delegation included Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Ali Pate, and governors from Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states. Business leaders Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA Group and Wale Tinubu of Oando were also present as the President renewed his pledge to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and expand opportunities for its citizens.
